The 2009 Ermenegildo Zegna Winner will be announced at the South African Themed Evening of the International Mohair Summit on Wednesday 4th of November
Ermenegildo Zegna has been supporting the South African Mohair industry since 1970. The competition is for the best Summer Kid mohair and the 2008 winner was Mr FE (Billy) Colborne and sons from Willowmore.
It is always important to understand who our sponsor is. Below are some interesting facts about Zegna.
Ermenegildo Zegna is based in the mountain town of Trivero in Italy (near Biella- the manufacturing capital of the world for most top brands)
Zegna started in 1910 and is currently a fourth generation family led business, which is a leading multinational company in luxury clothing.
They are a vertically integrated company, which means that they take the product from spinning to weaving to end product.
They distribute products to over 80 countries worldwide and generate over 88% of their sales overseas. (Outside Italy) 30% in Europe, 30% North America and 30% Asia. They employ about 7000 people half of which work outside of Italy. They distribute through 525 mono-brand stores of which 253 are directly operated under the Ermenegildo Zegna name.
Mohair forms a small yet significant part of their business as it is used as a distinguishing factor.
There is an Ermenegildo Zegna store in Johannesburg, SA. Ermenegildo Zegna, Zegna Corner, Sandton City Shopping Centre, cnr. 5th street and Rivonia rd, 011 7842663.
