Guided Tours in and around Graaff-Reinet 4 November 2009

  • 09h00 - Depart from guesthouse for a guided tour to the iconic Valley of Desolation in the Camdeboo National Park known as the "Cathedral of the Mountains". The tour includes transport by air-conditioned vehicles, conservation fees, and refreshments on route. The focus is on the fauna, flora and geology of the Great Karoo. The tour includes two walks, 100m to the viewpoint over Graaff-Reinet and 220m to the Valley of Desolation.
  • 12h00 - Buffet Lunch in Graaff-Reinet
  • 13h30 - Depart after lunch for a guided Historic Graaff-Reinet Town Tour including air-conditioned vehicles, tea/coffee/scones in a local garden, entrance fees/donations to the DR Church, Anglican Church, Graaff-Reinet Club and other national monuments en route. The focus is on culture, architecture and the personalities associated with Graaff-Reinet history.

  • 09h00 - Depart from guesthouse for a guided tour of the quaint & secluded village of Nieu Bethesda & the fantasy world of glass and concrete known as the Owl House. The tour includes transport by air-conditioned vehicles, entrance fees and refreshments on route. The focus is on the history of Nieu Bethesda, Helen Martins & the Owl House
  • 12h00 - Buffet Lunch on Ganora Farm
  • 13h30 - Guided tour of the Bushmen Rock Art, Artefact & Fossil Museum. This rock art shelter is a 100m walk and easily accessible and the fossil museum tour offers a unique opportunity to gain an insight into the Karoo Fossils of Gondwanaland
